From the Jerusalem Post:
PM to present new haredi stipend, national service plan
http://www.jpost.com/NationalNews/Article.aspx?id=200040
"Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will present the cabinet on Sunday with two plans he hopes will increase haredi participation in the workforce by gradually limiting government funding of kollel students and encouraging civilian service among the ultra-Orthodox."
Is this just another game? If the ultra-Orthodox do not serve in the army because they do not support the State of Israel why would they support the state through national service? And if they are willing to support the state though national service doesn't that imply they are avoiding the army because they are afraid?
The ultra-Orthodox describe themselves with the hebrew word chared(i) which means fear.
But the real issue is the government. What a con they are running. Like Obama's healthcare bill, it doesn't take effect for years but they book the profit today.
But the government needs the ultra-Orthodox to stay in power.
